Default Best overall class?

I am coming back to guild wars after not playing since around Nightfall was released, and I erased most of my characters before I went I have to roll a new character now, and was wondering which character class would be the best overall? I had a Minion master that I quit after the first nerf that limited the amount of minions you could have, I had an A/R that was sort of a bank mule, and a W/Mo that I played a good amount. I wanted to try something other then warrior, but I couldnt really decide what. So I guess I have a few questions:

1. What is the least played class? Why?
2. What is the best overall class? Why?

I like being different so I may play a lesser played class, but id like to have one that can farm easily also without having to make another 55 monk. Thanks ahead of time.

This question doesn't make sense.

Best for what?

All classes are equal. But some are more equal than others. [/Orwell]

Ritualist is what you are looking for then.

1: mesmer, ritualist, paragon
2: Undecided - each hace their strengths and weaknesses.

this belongs in the Q&A Section

That's hard to say. It all depends on what mission/goal is provided. Each class is applicable to all objectives, but some professions are stronger in certain areas than others. Also, you must take into account what exactly you're up against. GWars is like rock/paper/scissors: roll the right build to beat the other team(s)/monster(s).

There are also strengths and weaknesses in particular skills, and the community for the most part has been able to weed out the weakest of skills in most websites I've ever viewed.

There's no simple build that wins all (in PvP... PvE offers skills that allow more flexibility for survival in Hard Mode), because if you roll "scissors, there'll always be a rock out there waiting to smash you to bits.

all classes have strengths and weaknesses and most classes can farm the same places now /ursanway and there is a solo or dual build for uw and fow for every class. (if farming for money is wat u need rather then enjoying it) any class can get money. i farm for uber gold cause i enjoy it..even though i pvp mostly now and havent farmed in awhile T_T

Monking! Haha, just kidding...most people hate it, but I love it. How can anyone say it's boring?! I don't know, I always find that there's some sort of dynamic to monking, so to me it's the most enjoyable, not best, class. "Best" class is too much of a generic term. Best at PvP? Best at PvE? Farming? What?? And even with those...I mean who could ever say which character is best in PvP or PvE? Every character has a role, be it healing, tanking, interrupting, etc. It all depends on what you want to do...

That's the question. What is it that you want to do? You can narrow it down, asking, "do I want to support?" or "do I want to attack?" Don't forget that many support characters can have builds that make them offensive, and many attacking chars can be supportive if need be.

I'd say rangers for versatility and consistency in utility in both PvE and PvP.

Necromancers would be first, but I'm assuming everyone will pick them. Note both professions deal well with Energy.

The search button is the best overall class as this has been posted numerous times before.

i think that elementalist are the best now. they can tank better than a warrior, they can farm lots of stuff, they have great aoe dmg. when your looking for a group to do anything ele's are usually in high demand.

I would say go para; they are somewhat really funny to play and quite useful anywhere. They can really make the difference with the right build (just look at SY spammer...100 armor on all = /win ). Furthermore, if you had fun using warrior, but wanna change, para is the answer!

I believe the ritualist has the most versatility, aswell as being one of, if not the, least played class in the game.

In some ways the ranger has more versatility (Spirit Spamming, Trapping, Condition Spamming, Touch). But usually you have to be dedicated to one thing, where as with the ritualist you can have a mixture of supportive spirits, offensive spirits, Direct damage, and Ashes spells...

I enjoy playing warrior, but it's really each to their own.

Mesmers are the least played class.

They also make the best solo farmers....

This is the absolute truth for picking a profession in GW. Research each class and figure out what role appeals to you the most. But don't be afraid to try something new as well, worse comes to worse you can delete the character and try something else.

my 2 cents

If you ask yourself "Do I want to support?" "Do I want to attack?" "Do I want to heal?" or any other question pick necro.
